Hey there — I’m Laura. I’m a CPA, recovering public accountant (worked at PwC in external auditing for three years), and now I’m working in an internal audit/internal consulting role in Corporate America. I am also a certified yoga teacher, a crazy dog mom, and a lover of all things food and wine.
I recently married my best friend and pup-daddy, Timmer. He just finished his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Emory, and now he owes 3 years to the Air Force. We finally found out in April that we will be moving to Germany in July!! We are so excited to travel around Europe, and plan on sharing our favorite places — where to stay, what to eat, what to do — and as self-proclaimed foodies, plan on trying the award winning restaurants and the street food/hole-in-the-walls. As my blog name says, I am here to bring you the *tried and true* trouvailles in our travels.
Once we found out we were moving to Germany, I immediately started researching all things related to moving with the Air Force, doctors in the Air Force, living in Germany in the Air Force, etc…and quickly found out that there is really not a lot of information out there. For example, I found out from my friend whose husband is in the USAF, that the Air Force has movers come and pack up our things. They prefer that they pack things so that they are liable for anything that breaks. We had actually already started packing up our things, so this was something I wouldn’t have known without her.
So, this blog will also have a few posts with some information about the Health Profession Scholarship Program (HPSP) — which is what Timmer went through with the Air Force, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) with the Air Force, and any other information that can help others who are interested in or are in the process of doing the medical route with the Air Force. Plus a lot of travel and food!
Thanks for reading and we hope you stick around!
